My computer now makes sounds like STARGATE equipment when it starts up. It most resembles their “Gate In Use” signal.   It's been that way since it blew out and I had to replace the desktop and keyboard.

There's bound to be sabotage on the computer. The Internet, as Orwell pointed out, is likely to get into warfare and in fact it has early military connections.  Spam and viruses seem to be some people's ideas of causes to follow and promote.  Well, I've started taking it like the people on the SF series I'm watching.  When my printer stopped transferring copy in the middle of a project I just noticed it without changing my expression any, ran a couple of checks and then went into the next room to do something else, exactly like Riker when a system breaks down when he's alone at some controls. A PC just has that from time to time.  Read more computer woes in “The Computer Corner”. Well, does our magazine, the very one you're reading, get any sabotage?  Yes, I believe it does.  Readers have been complaining that our annals section isn't turning up the editions they are looking for.  Sometimes two different hits will get the same read, and sometimes a hit will turn up something other than what it said where they clicked. Well, the second point is an adjunctive one..what damage can be done to such a thing as that has been partly accomplished.  We find that we cannot guarantee that the annals will stay being what we set them up for.  That's about all the insecurity they've managed to make stick, but I think our links sometimes being dead ones is evidence of sabotage occurring elsewhere.  Somebody took a counterlink off a page I have linked here, too, and I haven't been able to get any information about it.  Well, if you hit a dead link here, just try it again another day and it may have cleared.  I hate for the zine to be less than perfect, but it is anyway.

Bobo, also, got abducted one day, and I found him partially disassembled in a cornfield a couple of miles from here.  Never did find out who did it.  On TV, they would have gone on into their next bit, but here in real life, so to speak, they didn't have one.

So, I'm not missing the point when I portray our staff and associates as various characters of TV and Movie repute…there is some crossover from TV into life and vice versa.  Maybe I should ask someone to do a study of scifi and fantasy TV as a virtual medium.  Certainly there is some similarity of a TV set to the Enterprise's holodeck, or even to SG-1's Stargate---as at least Tad Williams has suggested.  Or William Gibson, and numerous others, too.  You get sucked in more than you want to be…and the same may be said for the actors, sometimes in relation to the plot, sometimes going the other way, to life outside the studio milieu.

Read, enjoy, reader.  We try to be out of such complications to our reading as much as we can be, and to maintain as aloof an attitude to things of this world as we can considering what's going on in the world today.   We hope to give you a lift, a genuine escape out of worldly considerations and into the world of the imaginative and the objective.  And trying to is being right into the spirit of the thing.  If we can't give you what you're looking for we're just exactly as disappointed as you are…no more, no less.

Try this issue out and see if you can tell us how well we've succeeded.
