Fortune Silence

Through the soft murderousness of space

Star-flitter, driving the path,

To where no one knows, for no one goes there, nobody but

Fortune Silence---and she braves the depths of imaginations

Unbounded by gravity and material concerns, we are limited

To this earth, but---

Fortune Silence, going where no man's imagination

Cares to travel, braves star wars, dimension doors,

Gods majestic who jealously look down

At this sprinkled universe---

Diamonds and stars and CETI:

Why are we waiting here, crushed by gravitational coil

Divine actions foil, they say, they pray

But then we place our faith in faithlessness,

Fortune Silence, she runs laughing to the stars,

Star-flitter cutting a path through hydrogen,

Trail sprinkling like fairy dust, the way to go,

The way we know, we want to follow her

To the edge of the galaxy……
